This Unaired Video Probably Just Got Bannon and Kushner Subpoenaed

We all knew that Special Counsel Robert Mueller would eventually get around to Steve Bannon and Jared Kushner, right? Well, after the shocking 60 Minutes interview with Bannon, Mueller may have cause to move on Bannon and Kushner faster than expected.

However, to find said cause, he’ll need to search online for the unaired portions of the interview, because, for whatever reason, CBS didn’t air it in its entirety.

When Charlie Rose asked Steve Bannon whether Jared Kushner pressured Donald Trump to fire FBI Director James Comey, the editors decided the exchange that ensued wasn’t air-worthy.

The exchange that didn’t air?…
Rose: “It has been reported that Jared Kushner was in favor of firing James Comey. Is that correct?”

Bannon: “I have — you guys have to … find that out either through the media or through investigation. I don’t know.”

Rose: “It is also true, many say, and you’re a smart guy, that if James Comey had not been fired we would not have the Mueller investigation.”

Bannon: “True. I don’t think there’s any—

Bannon: “—I don’t think there’s any doubt that if James Comey had not been fired, we would not have a special counsel, yes.”

Rose: “Do you believe that Mr. Mueller should be fired?”

Bannon: “No, I do not.”

Rose: “Someone said to me that you described the firing of James Comey, you’re a student of history, as the biggest mistake in political history.”

Bannon: “That would be probably — that probably would be too bombastic even for me, but maybe modern political history.”

Rose: “So the firing of James Comey was the biggest mistake in modern political history”.

Bannon: “I think — if you’re saying that that’s associated with me, then I’ll — I’ll leave it at that.”

Is it just me, or does Bannon’s stuttering answers make is seem pretty evident that he was in on the discussion about Comey’s firing, and that he’s just not telling us?

I mean, as far inside the Trump inner circle as he was, surely he was in the meetings when Kushner and other advisers were pushing Trump to go through with the firing, right? If so, well…here he is, lying about it during the CBS interview like it’s no big deal.

Except it is a big deal. A very big deal.  And while I still don’t fully understand why CBS would choose not to air this, at least it has surfaced online.  Hopefully, this will allow Mueller to speed things up with both Bannon and Kushner.
